The Psychologist in an article entitled, Gratitude – Parent of all virtues, states “…around 18.5 percent of individual differences in people’s happiness could be predicted by the amount of gratitude they feel.”*
Wow! That caught my attention! It’s long been known gratitude will increase your state, but now there’s research on this important topic aplenty and the results are astounding. I recommend the above article for more interesting facts and conclusions as well some useful references and web links.
I am grateful for you. I have been writing this column for years now, and I often get responses back from readers that lift my spirits. I not only have the joy of sitting down every Sunday to write an energizing short essay for the week ahead, I have the distinct pleasure of hearing from those who read it, an apparently loyal group who often tells me how much I am appreciated! A virtuous cycle if ever there was one. And all for sharing observations and musings on topics that I use to set the week off on the right foot. What a fortunate man I am! And I have you to thank for it. So, thank you.
Consider telling those you love how much you love them and why, not just so they know, but also because of how it will make you feel. That is, wonderful!
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of the virtues, but the parent of all of the others”
